MY EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY BY CHRISTIAN PAUL A. ATRAZO

Updated: May 27, 2024

I am an educator who believes that true education should change the behavior and perspective of the learners, and not just provide intellectual information to them. I believe that education is an enlightening experience that changes the attitude of the students in order for them to be equipped in facing and addressing the challenges of life with proper perspective and wisdom. Therefore, I am fully convinced that education is not just a learning process that aims to transmit knowledge to the learners in a specific classroom, but education is an avenue where students can learn with each other and from different learning experiences and sources that can change and develop them holistically in various circumstances and environment.

As an educator and a student of life, I am motivated to share all the knowledge, wisdom, experiences, and values to my students just as I am inspired to learn new things and ideas from them. As a student of life, I am indebted to my mentors and friends who taught me the right values and ways of living. I am very grateful for they have extended to me their help, grace and unconditional love when I was still wondering of my purpose on earth and the true meaning of life. Thus, I am accountable to pay them forward by reaching out my hands and providing the same help, grace, and unconditional love to my students and to people like me who desire to discover their purpose in life and look for the true meaning of life.

As an educator, I am in charge for the growth and development of my students emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I am capable of either building the life and the future of our next generation or destroying the light of hope that our young people have in their mind and heart. Hence, I choose to become a part of the movement that aims to inspire our young people to establish dreams and goals that will change their lives and support them to have a clear vision in contributing to their community. I do not want to become a stumbling block that will stop them in their journeys in life and deprive them of the good future set by their Creator. I choose to become their milestone in life that will encourage them to be a part of Change Agents that will transform and affect the lives of Young People and be a part of the solution through setting an example. I do not want to be a part of those negative influences that further exacerbate their dark experience in their past that continuously degrade their identity as a person. I choose to become a spark that initiates the fire in their torches, so they can utilize it to light their path and lead the others in a very long and exhausting adventure of life.

I am willing to take the pain if it means sharing to the young people the grace, mercy, and love that I have also received from my community. I am willing to take the pain if it means helping the young people to find the true meaning of life. I am willing to take aside of my welfare if it means helping them to get out of their darkness and lift them up from the poverty of the spirit. I am willing to lay down my life for them because by doing this I find the true essence of my life. I find my Purpose. I find my Mission. I find my reason for living. I find my IKIGAI. I want to do all of these things not because of the expected sense of fulfilment that I may receive upon accomplishing them, but because I do understand their narratives, since I have experienced the same stories that they have. For all these reasons, I promise to become an educator that will always pour out his heart to his students.
