Lesson plan is considered as the guide of teachers in determining the knowledge and skills that the students must learn, the process that the teachers must adapt and execute to deliver the lesson, and the evaluation process to assess the transfer of learning that exists. It helps the teachers to navigate the learning process that the students must undergo to acquire the necessary competencies. Hence, it is very important that we further improve and update this guide in relation to the needs of our current learning environment. Of course, one of the few ways that we can do it is by adopting Open Educational Resources (OER) in our daily lesson plan.
OER together with the internet and portable gadgets has democratized the access to information and knowledge for teachers and students. As a result, the teachers today have the privilege to substantiate their lesson with the enormous amount of information and knowledge that they can access to. They have the capability to transform the learning experience of the students by taking advantage of the use of OER.
The teacher must be able to find a way on how he/she can include the OER in the delivery of his/her lesson. Upon analyzing the lesson, the teacher can choose from a variety of OER that they can utilize. Then, those information and knowledge that may be obtained from the OER can be used with the suitable digital media and/or educational platform to generate interactive learning experiences. At the end of the day, the goal of the teacher is to ensure that the student will interactively participate in the learning process.
In conclusion, the generation of teachers and students of this digital and information age is very blessed with a lot of educational tools and resources that they can use to improve and accelerate their learning experience and engagement. It is on their decision already if they will take advantage of the benefits of it or choose to be stuck with the limited view of accessing information through the tradition methods.
